The MCR (Middle Combination Room) comprises all the members of the college who already have a degree and are on a course of study at the university. Most students are either on one year Masters courses or are researching towards a Ph.D., but our members also include those on clinical, diploma and undergraduate courses. The MCR is affiliated to the Cambridge University Students' Union and the Graduate Union.
Although not strictly associated with ECSU, all MCR members are also members of ECSU, and so are entitled to take advantages of all services provided by ECSU in addition to voting at Open Meetings and in elections.
Role of the MCR
The MCR exists to "provide amenities and entertainments to graduates, to represent graduates to the college, and to advance its members' education". They provide social activities throughout the year, lobby College to provide adequate facilities and support for graduate students and influence numerous College committees.
The MCR Freshers' Guide is written by the MCR President to give new graduates an introduction to the College, and what it's like to study here. It is available from the MCR website.
