Sharing the Odyssey: The Road of Refugees, Professionals and Students

-
Thursday 23rd February, 6:00-8:30pm
Seminar Room 3, Cripps Court, Magdalene College

Refugees and asylum seekers often travel great distances, fleeing war, torture and oppression, but reaching the UK is far from the end of the journey. The challenges they face in this country include detention, discrimination and destitution.

With 7 speakers from 5 refugee-related organisations, this panel will give you the chance to hear the real story of what it's like to be a refugee or asylum-seeker in the UK. Former asylum-seeker detainees and refugee women, as well as professionals and students working with refugees in the UK, will share their experiences and perspectives.

They will illustrate the challenges facing refugees in the UK, affecting more than 300,000 refugees and asylum-seekers in the country. There will also be discussion of the ways people can contribute to addressing these problems.

This event is organized by the SPS Society and STAR Cambridge.
