About the Club

The Emmanuel College Rugby Club provides undergraduate and graduate members of the college an opportunity to play in the inter-collegiate rugby union competitions. The team competes both in league games, currently being placed in the 2nd division, and also in the knockout 'cuppers' competition.

The standard of rugby is similar to what people will have experienced at school and participation and commitment are always important attributes of successful members. The time obligation is fairly minimal owing to the difficulty of training with players from many different subjects. Training sessions are usually Sundays, 12-2 at the Wilberforce Road sports fields, and games are played on Thursday afternoons.

Socially the rugby players will be found at every occasion, be it dressing up to raise money for charity events or simply taking a pivotal role in the functioning of student life in college. Annual events include the AGM and Christmas dinner, while more regular 'socials' are "theoretically weekly".
